Landmark Agreement in the U.S.: Donald Trump Granted Permanent Tax Immunity by IRS

A groundbreaking order has been enacted following Donald Trump’s decision to drop his $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS, which stemmed from the unauthorized leak of his tax information to the media. This development marks a significant moment in U.S. tax history.

The one-page document, released on Tuesday and signed by Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, clearly stipulates that the U.S. government is “permanently forbidden” from auditing the tax returns filed by the former president prior to the agreement’s date. It also prevents any future scrutiny of issues “raised or that could have been raised” in connection with past audits.

A Controversial Precedent and a Multi-Billion Dollar Fund

This bold move, described as an extraordinary use of executive power, grants Trump and his associates full tax immunity for all ongoing financial matters. It sets a controversial precedent in the realm of executive authority.

As part of the settlement to withdraw the lawsuit, the Department of Justice has established a government fund worth $1.776 billion. This fund aims to compensate individuals who claim to have been subject to politically motivated investigations or prosecutions during the previous Biden administration.

The announcement has sparked significant backlash from Democratic lawmakers and government ethics watchdogs, who have accused the administration of overreach and abuse of power.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche defended the decision, stating that resolving a legal dispute of such magnitude would be meaningless if either party could simply reignite the conflict the next day.
