“Senator James Risch, who chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has strongly reaffirmed the critical importance of shared responsibility within the allied space, and I expressed my gratitude for his solidarity,” stated Oana Țoiu.
The head of Romanian diplomacy recalled her meeting with the U.S. senator in Washington last fall, where discussions focused on bilateral cooperation in defense and economic sectors.
According to her, James Risch is “a consistent dialogue partner for Romania and a well-informed expert on the region and the strategic partnership.”
“We do not choose the times we live in, but we do choose how we respond to them. Solidarity is the key to peace and lays the foundation for prosperity,” the Foreign Minister further asserted.
Oana Țoiu also announced that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host a delegation of U.S. Congressional staff members with a focus on defense in October, as part of the MECEA program.
She noted that this program, signed last month with the U.S. Department of State, marks a first for Romania since the American program’s inception in 1961.
