“The fall of this government happened because we endeavored, and largely succeeded, in curbing waste and correcting injustices,” Bolojan stated during his speech at the PNL gathering in Florica.
Liberal leader Bolojan emphasized that the PNL took on “tough decisions” to stabilize the budget and halt negative trends in administration.
“We spoke honestly with the people about what is feasible and what is not,” the premier declared.
Bolojan also acknowledged the share of responsibility that liberals bear for the issues accumulated over the recent years.
“We accept our partial responsibility for this situation and do not shy away from it,” he remarked.
During the speech, the premier called for reform within the PNL and an end to political compromises.
“The path is not one of compromises that compromise us,” asserted the liberal leader.
He insisted that the party must champion professionalism and excellence, managing institutions “in the service of citizens, rather than treating them as personal fiefdoms.”
Bolojan also referred to the principles of public administration put forth by Ion I.C. Brătianu: “authority, integrity, simplification, and economy,” which he noted “remain relevant today.”
Concluding his speech, the premier quoted a message attributed to Brătianu: “I am not concerned with when we come to power. I am deeply concerned that when we do come to power, we are prepared.”
