George Simion has claimed that Adrian Veștea’s name was put forward as a potential premier without an official decision from the National Liberal Party (PNL) leadership.
Concerns Over Nomination Process
The AUR president argued that the statutory bodies of PNL were not consulted before news surfaced about Veștea’s nomination.
“Adrian Veștea was proposed without anyone from PNL suggesting him and without consulting the statutory bodies, leading to such decisions,” Simion stated.
The AUR leader contended that this approach flouts internal party rules and undermines democratic mechanisms.
Criticism of Political Authority
George Simion linked the premier nomination issue to AUR’s previous criticisms about canceling presidential elections and recent institutional decisions.
He argued that current political leaders exhibit, in his view, a disregard for political parties and democratic principles.
“Doing this within a political party shows a lack of concern for those parties, the constitutional order, and democracy. These are the same individuals who annulled elections. History is being written now,” the AUR leader declared.
Veștea at the Heart of Political Speculation
Simion’s remarks come amid public reports regarding Adrian Veștea’s potential appointment as premier.
George Simion’s response marks the first public stance by a political leader on this matter, as negotiations for forming the next government are ongoing.
Previously, Ilie Bolojan criticized Adrian Veștea’s nomination, calling it a “hostile act” by President Nicușor Dan since it occurred without consultations with PNL leadership.
To date, political figures such as Sorin Grindeanu, Kelemen Hunor, and Dominic Fritz have not issued any statements.
