Donald Trump announced on Monday via Truth Social that the enriched uranium, referred to as “nuclear dust,” will either be handed over immediately to the United States for destruction on American soil or, preferably, destroyed in collaboration and coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran. This could occur on-site in Iran or at another mutually acceptable location, with the Atomic Energy Commission or its equivalent overseeing the process.
Last week, Trump informed reporters in the Oval Office that the United States will not demand the return of Iran’s enriched uranium. However, this latest statement indicates a willingness to involve Tehran in the disposal process, according to reports.
“We will likely destroy it once we obtain it, but we will not allow them to keep it,” Trump stated on Thursday.
Trump: We won’t let them retain it
Over the weekend, American officials began using the phrase “No dust, no dollars” as a mantra, emphasizing the White House’s stance that the enriched uranium must be eliminated before Iran can gain financial benefits from the proposed agreement aimed at ending the conflict.
