The contract pertains to the design and construction of the Moțca – Târgu Frumos section within the Moldovan segment of the A8 Union Highway.
“This marks the first contract for this highway funded through the European SAFE Program and represents a significant step towards connecting Iași with the European transport network,” noted Horațiu Cosma on Facebook.
This stretch will span 27 kilometers, directly aiding in alleviating congestion and reducing accidents on DN28, one of Moldova’s busiest and most hazardous routes.
The contract has been awarded to a consortium comprising SA&PE Construct, Tehnostrade, Spedition UMB, and Euro-Asfalt, with the investment valued at 4.87 billion lei (excluding VAT).
The total duration of the contract is set at 46 months.
“A crucial element is the priority construction of a 5.5-kilometer section, expected to be completed in no more than 12 months, to ensure a swift connection between A8, DN2, and A7 Bacău – Pașcani,” added the state secretary.
The project will feature 36 bridges and passages totaling 8.5 kilometers, 4 tunnels with a combined length of 1.7 kilometers, and 3 road junctions: Moțca, Pașcani, and Târgu Frumos.
