The National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management has issued a flood warning based on the current hydrometeorological conditions and the forecast for the next 24 hours.
This yellow alert applies to specific river sections in the counties of Arad, Timiș, Caraș-Severin, Gorj, Hunedoara, and Mehedinți.
The river basins affected by this warning include Bega, Timiș, Bârzava, Caraș, Nera, Cerna, and Jiu.
Expected Phenomena
During the alert period, experts anticipate significant runoff on slopes, torrents, and streams. Rapid floods may occur on smaller rivers, leading to increased water flow and levels, potentially exceeding alert thresholds. Local flooding effects are also possible.
Authorities’ Recommendations
Residents are advised to avoid traveling near watercourses. Crossing rivers at fords or using makeshift bridges is prohibited. It is also recommended to avoid staying in areas prone to flooding.
Authorities advise checking and clearing ditches and drains to ensure effective water flow. People living in vulnerable areas should take steps to protect their belongings and homes.
Citizens are urged to continuously monitor information from official channels and follow the instructions of emergency management structures. The National Institute for Hydrology and Water Management notes that the hydrological forecast will be updated based on the development of the weather phenomena.
